U-Haul Self Storage
U-Haul Self Storage project consisted of two pre-engineered structures totalling 18,500 sq ft. This design building project had unique design challenges to meet U-Haul requirements. U- Haul requested Dixin Construction to match the existing buildings which had block and shingled roofs. American Buildings Company was able to meet this challenge by designing a metal roof structure that could accept a shingled roof. The main building was also designed with climate controlled units to maintain constant temperatures year round.

Royal Canadian Legion
This building stands out in my mind since it was the first major project I worked when I started at Dixin Construction Limited. This building is located in downtown Sarnia on Front Street. Built in the late 1980’s, this 2-story building was designed by Andrews Richards Architects.
The building was constructed with load bearing masonry walls with brick veneer. Special detail was given by the architect pertaining to the rainwater from the roof. A hidden system was designed to eliminate the view of the trough and downspouts, therefore giving the building a much more pleasing view from the exterior. This building still stands out with being over 20 years old.
Hertz Equipment Rental
Hertz Equipment Rental purchased the old Sterling Crane at the corner of St. Andrews and Vidal St in Sarnia. Renovations and additions where required to bring the building up to Hertz specifications. Dixin Construction Limited was contracted to do this work in 2005.
Additions to the building were constructed using American Buildings Company Pre-Engineered design. A new wash bay building was constructed at the rear of the property. Additions to the building included single slope pre- engineered buildings attached to the existing pre-engineered building. The existing offices where renovated to suit Hertz requirements.
Spectrum Communications
Meeting the owner's need for a 6,000 square foot facility was Dixin Construction's main priority. But for having the client also satisfied for the overall budget was a goal that Dixin Construction sets when dealing with all of our clients in a design / build project. This was the case when Dixin Construction constructed Spectrum Communications facility located in Sarnia on Confederation Street.
Utilizing American Buildings pre-engineered single slope design with interior columns made the project feasible for our client. Architectural details such as the front entrance was added without a detriment to the budget. Exposed painted roof structure in the showroom gave the building an attractive look that met their needs.
Pre-engineered buildings can be used for many applications as shown here for Spectrum Communications.
Leon's Furniture
Dixin Construction Limited was the successful bidder in constructing the Leon's showroom and warehouse on Barclay Avenue in Sarnia. Designed by Murphy Hilgers Architect from Toronto, this building was specially designed to suit the triangle shape of the property.
The building was constructed using structural steel columns and joists. Pre-cast panels were used for the exterior of the building. All design components for this project met Leon's Furniture's specifications. The overall square footage of the building is 27,000 square feet costing 2.4 million dollars to complete in 2003.
